Dr Shoma Dutt is an enthusiastic and experienced Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Senior Staff Specialist based in Sydney, at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW). She has a keen interest in paediatric growth, nutrition, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas.
Dr Dutt completed her specialist training at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and completed her PhD studies at University of Sydney. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of the Clinical School, University of Sydney, based at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Dr Dutt is accredited to perform paediatric endoscopy and colonoscopy by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.
Dr Dutt is a member of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team, and manages children with gastrointestinal manifestations of CF and the current Clinical Lead of the Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
She is involved in teaching and assessment of medical students in the Child and Adolescent Health teaching block of the Sydney Medical Programme, and one of the coordinators of the Masters in Med (Paediatric) programme at the University of Sydney.

Dr Kunal Thacker works as a paediatric gastroenterologist and hepatologist at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW), Sydney. At Children’s hospital he is also involved in regular educational and research activities especially focusing in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Eosinophilic Oesophagitis. He was working as a senior consultant in Perth children’s hospital, Western Australia prior to his move to Sydney.
Kunal earned a gold medal while completing specialist Paediatrician training in India. After moving to Australia he specialized in paediatric gastroenterology and hepatology from The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney. Additional training included a year of clinical fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children (Sickkids), Toronto, Canada.
He is accredited by Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (Australia) to perform endoscopic procedures (Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy) for children of all ages. He specializes in all gastrointestinal issues affecting the well being of children from birth to adolescence.
Kunal has supervised trainees for research projects leading to presentations in national and international meetings in addition to publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is passionate to provide streamlined care for children with complex needs like Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Eosinophilic oesophagitis.
He is dedicated to support and improve the quality of life of children with gastrointestinal disorders. When not working he loves to spend time with his wife and two children, traveling and exploring the city.
