My name is Dr. Don Jeeves Perera and I am an experienced paediatric and adult anaesthetist. Having completed my medical degree at UNSW in 2005, followed by my internship and residency, I pursued training in Anaesthesia. I completed my Australian and New Zealand Fellowship in Anaesthesia (FANZCA) in 2014 with subspecialty training in Paediatric Anaesthesia at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. I now work as a consultant anaesthetist at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Hospital. I am also an accredited anaesthetist at Westmead Private, Norwest Private, Strathfield Private, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Castlecrag Private hospitals.
My areas of expertise in anaesthesia include the following specialties; General surgery, ENT and Head & Neck surgery, Plastics and Cleft palate surgery, Craniofacial surgery, Orthopaedic, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Neurosurgery, Liver Transplant surgery, Robotic and Endoscopic surgery.
I am experienced in managing children and young adults with behavioural challenges and helping them negotiate the stressful hospital admission and surgery. It is very important to me that each and every patient has a positive experience with anaesthesia as it helps alleviate anxiety and cope with procedures in the future.
